How to Promote & Share

Whether you’re advocating for your cause, sharing details about your event or fundraising – here are some ways to get it done.

Getting Started

  • What do you want everyone TO KNOW, TO FEEL and TO DO.
  • Get the details of your event together: where, when, what, cost, who you’re helping and WHY. Use our our Pitch Builder to make it easy.
  • Make a list of your network – friends, family, school connections, teams, clubs, local businesses etc. for ideas about where to share.
  • Consider how your Challenge’s promotion can be more inclusive and diverse, especially how you can reach diverse groups.

Social Media

  • Start a Facebook Event page and share details about your event.
  • Use Your Instagram bio and share links to: registration, fundraising page and the cause you’re supporting. If you need to add multiple links in your bio, you can use a resource like LinkTree.
  • Post or create a story about WHY you’re doing what you’re doing and ask people to join your event or donate, if you’re fundraising.
  • Create an Instagram story post so that others can easily share all the details of your event (see sample below). Canva.com is a free online resource that has templates you can use.
  • Here’s a google folder filled with examples like the ones below. Notice how one leaves room for tagging.
  • Get creative and use humor to grab the attention of your audience.
  • Create a hashtag and use it whenever you post. Ask your participants to do this too.
  • Use your school’s network to spread the word (ex: class Facebook page). If you’re in elementary, middle or high school, add your event to your principal’s or parent’s newsletter.
  • Share the WHY (why get involved, why donate, why this matters, etc.) on your social media channels.
  • Tag Positive Tracks so that we can share and cheer you on. @postracks – Instagram and Twitter and here on Facebook

Positive Tracks Partnership

  • Add the Positive Tracks partnership to your event. People will like to know that you’ve got lots of support from a national youth organization. Here’s a link to learn how to describe our partnership.

  • Make a presentation at school, to your team or club. Make sure to include action steps (join you, donate, help you spread the word).
  • Make a poster or flyer using our Poster Creator to spread the word.
  • Create a short, fun video that includes all the crucial information and a call to action.
  • Use Vimeo or YouTube to post your videos. Both of these sites are free.

    • Photos and/or videos highlighting work on the ground.
    • Snippets of blog stories that link back to your organization’s website for the full story.
